Our Hudson Yards project reimagined a railroad-style apartment, transforming its unique, elongated layout into a multifunctional haven that seamlessly blends style and utility. The client’s extensive artwork and record collection served as central elements in our design, guiding the aesthetic and functional choices throughout the space.

To create a cohesive environment, we selected a warm, neutral palette, punctuated by a masculine tones that complemented the softness and intensity ofclient’s artwork. The design incorporated modular sofas, allowing for flexible seating arrangements that cater to both intimate gatherings and larger entertaining events. These sofas, upholstered in rich velvet fabrics, softened the masculine forms present in the overall design, introducing an inviting texture that balances strength with comfort.

A dedicated lounge area was developed specifically for the client’s vast record collection. This space features custom shelving that not only displays the records but also serves as an art piece in itself. A stylish turntable and a comfortable listening nook encourage relaxation and enjoyment, making it an ideal spot for entertaining friends or enjoying solo listening sessions.

Incorporating masculine forms through furniture and design elements was essential, but we softened the overall aesthetic with plush textiles and layered lighting. Strategic placement of floor lamps and wall sconces created a warm ambiance, enhancing the cozy yet sophisticated feel of the apartment.

The final result is a refined yet functional space that celebrates the client’s passions while providing a welcoming atmosphere. This transformation showcases how thoughtful design can create a harmonious living environment, making the most of an unconventional layout while reflecting the unique character of its owner.
